Buses
All major buses stop in Pretoria as well as in Johannesburg. The two cities are only 45 minutes apart and it takes you less than half an hour from Johannesburg International Airport to Pretoria, not an hour as stated in the Lonely Planet! Very importantly there is now some departures & arrivals directly to and from Johannesburg International Airport.
Buses - Intercity Buses - Greyhound
This is one of the 3 major bus companies in South
Africa. They also run in Zimbabwe as Blue Arrow. They go everywhere on

NB: "On
both of the websites you directed me to I could find them, get travel times
and do all of the reservation process minus making the actual reservation. I tried with both of my credit cards...which have plenty of money on each
and was told that I was using a "restricted credit card" which I take to
mean that US credit cards...Mastercard and American Express cannot take
reservations for tickets off of South African websites."
Buses - Intercity Buses - Intercape
The biggest Intercity Operator in Southern Africa,
transports to Upington and Windhoek as well. Most buses leave from Cape
Town but they also go to Maputo from Jo'burg and direct between Pretoria
and Windhoek.
Buses - Intercity Buses - North Link Tours
They specialize in the Louis Trichardt - Pretoria/Jo'burg
route. The only way to get to Phalaborwa and Tzaneen by bus transport.

have to book at their office in Pietersburg - phone 1023 for their number.Or
send me US$ 100 and I 'll phone them for you.
Buses - Intercity Buses - Translux
Probably the most popular of the intercity buses
as they are normally about R 10 or so cheaper. Runs to Bulawayo,
Harare, Lusaka, and Maputo as well but not to Upington. They currently
offer transport between Pretoria and Jo'burg for R 30 only on standby.
Does not run to Vic Falls anymore!`
