I am the 2nd most expensive of about 200 private operators. But more affordable than taking an exclusive safari from Sun City. If you find someone more expensive please let me know so I can jack my rates! I am based at Pilanesberg half the time, and have a backup vehicle just outside the Manyane gate. However, I am the only operator that is willing to pick you up at 3 am. I offer not only value for money, but a fantastic and fun day that you will always treasure. And this is why I do an 18 hour day once or twice a week, every day I have in the park is amazing. I 'm not stressed if you prefer going with someone else, I 'll even book it for you. And if you don't have a sense of humour, please do just that - as I just might offload you in the middle of the park.... As it is I 'm extremely competent & you are paying for my time! The older I get the more it's worth to me...Note that the cost of a good guide is R600 for 8 hours from pickup to drop off, R150/h thereafter. This means if I want to replace myself with a good guide that uses my vehicle, it will cost me R2000 plus the same for vehicle costs. Then an excellent equivalent guide will not freelance for less than R1000(or more) plus overtime, giving a cost of about R2500 plus R2000 vehicle costs. Running cost on my vehicle is about R3/km - I do about 500 - 550 km's return for a Pretoria trip, 650 - 700 km's return for a Jo'burg trip. Add entrances, map and you'll see that I 'm probably the only operator that have actually done his costing correctly! For a booking I couldn't do I was actually quoted more by an operator than I normally charge myself, the difference is in the hours spend. On ave I spend 12,5 hours in the Park of which 1,5 hours is stops for breakfast & lunch, leaving 11 hours game viewing, add transfers of 5 hours....about twice as long as the normal operator. But then I 'm not normal! Then, add my time......!
So, as you can only compare apples with apples; try Gametrackers leaving from Sun City & Pilanesberg:
Private vehicle (small open) and guide for R3200 for 2,5 hours; equivalent to R1280/hour. In this case the guide is yours for that time. Or they do a 4 hour for min 4 pax for R1150pp - but you do get a hat and T Shirt! You can book this through me if you insist on having the open vehicle experience.
